OK, haven't seen the flyer, was just told about the meetings this morning in a meeting. I wonder how that's going to work! Hmmmmmmm.

I'd be most interested in the numbers and the budget, but I know Mr. Walker can't be in 2 places at once, so I wonder who will present that at one or the other meeting. 

I thought the deficit was 12 mil....this flyer says: California's public schools and colleges have been cut by nearly $18 billion... Why are we going to this meeting to address anything about colleges?

Did anybody drive by the Junior High this evening? I did, and the entire fence line was covered in signs. Not sure who put them up, or if students did them, but kinda cool. They are supporting teachers and education!

Yeah, that would be my question too Kel. As far as the colleges, I think they're going to show the cuts by comparison. We received something this morning that showed K-12 cut by 11% since 2007/2008 and the UC system took a 5.2% hit. They get to charge for the education, raised their entrance fees and took a smaller hit in California than the K-12 system did. Doesn't seem quite fair.

Exactly. One has nothing to do with the other.  But they do, we need to voice our concerns at the State level about our K-12's being cut so much more severely then the college systems. Why would you cut the institutions that cannot charge for services double what you cut those that can? Did you realize that a full-time college professor can make up to $320,000.00 a year, and they still want a pay raise, and because of tuition increases and less of a hit at the state level, they can probably afford it, yet we have to cut classes at our High Schools due to lack of funds...craziness really! 

So in the sense that they don't have as many cuts ....is that what you mean?

So I heard on the radio this morning that supposedly today is a statewide effort by students to support the teachers. Interesting.
