Passing info forward...yippee :( From the National Weather Service, Las Vegas:
We are expecting the first potential push of monsoon moisture into Mojave, Clark and eastern San Bernardino Counties Wednesday and Thursday this week. This may bring the potential for thunderstorms, gusty winds, and locally heavy rain to parts of our area. With the approaching 4th of July holiday and many outdoor activities planned, we wanted to give you a heads up on the latest information we have to keep you aware of any potential weather impacts.
'Kitty litter box'! It's not just me! Although i think it smells like the yucky public restroom... only because I've never smelt a kitty litter before.
We had been here only a week this time last year, and it rained off and on throughout the week. I remember thinking, "I thought it didn't rain in the desert" I welcome the rain, just hope it holds off until thurs, I don't like the smell, but i sure could use some moisture in the air. My nose is bleeding lately
Mine has been bleeding since I got here, IP. :( I have severe sinus issues, all this dirt on top of the dryness makes for lots of problems with my breathing lol.
Fresh rain, even in the desert always smells incredible to me. I also love the smell of freshly wet dirt and to me it smells NOTHING like a litter box...lol.
We are currently in the 3rd worst drought in 50 years. If it does decide to rain and come down the way we usually get it here...better get your thigh high rain boots out because this ground won't be able to hold it and the flooding will commence.
Have you tried having it quaterized? My sons had to be, he's had it done 4, maybe 5 times but it still bleeds sometimes. It use to blled 3+ times a day so 1-2 times a week is better. I had mine quaterized years ago, and I just recently started getting them again.
I live over by rite aid.. There was a road grader going up and down all the streets making a sand berm on the side of the road - is this in preparation for monsoon season? I could see how this would minimize sand being washed into the road.
Bloody noses can be because the air in the house is too dry. I suffered with them growing up in Barstow, and my middle son gets them in the winter when the heater is on, and he used to get them in the summer when the AC was on, but none since we installed the swamp cooler. During the winter, I boil water on the stove, and it does help a lot by putting moisture in the air. Some say a humidifier can help too.
I live by Rite Aid as well and also seen the tractor, I thought they were doing that for viability on the corners but it could be to prepare for the rain too.
Fresh rain, even in the desert always smells incredible to me. I also love the smell of freshly wet dirt and to me it smells NOTHING like a litter box...lol.
Me too! I was so happy when I woke up this morning and everything was damp.
