Ive had this idea or plan in my head for a long time to get a swap meet going in 29 Palms. The property ive been looking at is ideal. Its right off the highway in 29 palms kinda close to pizza hut ..but on the other side of the highway. Its the big red building with the front and side fenced in. I know the lady who owns the property, and im pretty sure she would go for this plan. IDK give me some feedback on what you all think

It would probably end up selling junk and just become an eye sore right off the highway. I have heard of alot of people wanting to do lots of things with that building and nothing has ever became of those things. 

What kind of swapmeet will it be? Back home we have a thing called Saturday Market, it's like an open air market with art and food. People rent booths and sell things they make. It's sort of like a swapmeet and I think it's really fantastic. 

Thats why you have someone like me.. setting certain rules about how people set up their booths/stands and what can be sold and what cant. The highway is the best location because of all the traffic...not only locals but people passing through

Well, it sounds great. If you get it up and running before we leave in 9 months then I'd definitely check it out.

There were people who made really unique jewelery and crafts. They even had a little stage area where bands would play. It makes me homesick when I think about it. I even miss the crazy pan handlers doing weird dances with their hats set out for tips. lol

This would be AWESOME!!! Hubby and I went to the gun show here in yucca last summer and they had people there that made some great jewelry, homemade jam, purses, etc. Pair that up with some food booths and maybe a local band and I think it would be fantastic. 

I have often wondered why they don't have one at Smith's Ranch....There must be some restrictions by the City, otherwise I'm sure they would already have had one there....Time to do some research..... 

I think that would be an awesome Idea!!!! besides here in 29 there is really not to many stores that carry in style clothe and accesories and the exchange here on base really needs to update the style not only for grown ups but for teenagers. I am in for it if you can establish something I would love to set up a place for clothe and shoes.

I love swampmeets as well but it would probably end up like the one in Yucca and I dont think its like the ones that everyone is thinking about.

I dont think its like the ones that everyone is thinking about. Most become nothing more than another outside "COMMERCIAL" stores...Swap meets need to be for Mom and Pop's bringing their still useful worn items. Not boxes of brand new stuff...JMO

I think it should be ma and pa worn stuff along with handmade items, food booths and produce would be awesome
