Hey guys we just PCS'd from Jersey. What is there to do here? I have 3 small children 4, 2 and 7 months....this is def not what we are use to!!!! Any advice????

kElJoY --- 11 years ago -

Sounds like you need the info about MOPS; Mothers of Preschoolers. I know they do a lot of activities and get together. I just don't have that info. I think they have a FB page too?

There will be someone on here that can give you that info.

Welcome to 29. :)

njnikki --- 11 years ago -

Thanks I saw a sign for it but I have not loojed into it yet.

Welcome! There is plenty to do if you're willing to plan and travel a bit. We were out in 29 for over 3 years and ended up liking it very much. :) The ASYMCA usually has some classes for little kids you could look into, for starters. Usually the community center out in town has a dance class or two offered (although I don't remember the ages). MOPS is also a good one, and the good thing about 29 is it rarely has bad weather so you can usually take advantage of the playgrounds around base.

SuzieHomemakerEnviesMe --- 11 years ago -

Oh with little ones there is a ton to do like RaeRie said!

I take my lil ones to the park everyday! Splash park on base if its warm enough and sometimes we head down to palm springs if necessary!

Oh yeah them too - great programs for the little ones. Great place to meet other moms.

Yep. I met 2 of my best friends through those classes.

njnikki --- 11 years ago -

yay Jersey!!!! What part of NJ

Wildfire --- 11 years ago -

There are loads of things to do in that area. Very seldom did a weekend go by that we weren't doing something. LOVED the hikes in Joshua Tree.

That place was awful. Seriously. We waited an hour and never even got breadsticks.

Nothing like real pizza! Try Rocky's, itsdescen, but there is a place in Joshua Tree, Pie for the People that I heard was excellent. It was packed the day we went so we went somewhere else.

kElJoY --- 11 years ago -

a3419541uu --- 11 years ago -

the new Italian place is good and the owner is so nice but they don't have pizza.

kElJoY --- 11 years ago -

Rockys

is my little guy's FAV pizza spot! Probably have to hit it up tonight after Soccer. I think they are kind of expensive but the kids love it.

He said he didn't want to compete with the pizza places in town. I WISH he would get the calamari in...grrrrrrrr!!

I met the owner last year and he was not a jerk to me. To each their own I guess.

a3419541uu --- 11 years ago -

For one thing, when I take my family in there and spend $50.00 and my son just wanted a half of cup of soda for a refill, and the owner charged full price that's a jerk.
