What a mess these teachers created. Not to mention causing people to lose money from work having to stay home with their kids because they couldn't go to school!! Way to go Chicago teachers...smh.

Chicago teachers area already among the highest paid in the country earning on average $76k yearly. The city of Chicago offered a 16% increase over the term of the negotiated contract, and that is not good enough for the union. Like other teacher unions the Chicago union opposes benchmarking teacher performance in order to weed out the incompetent teachers who destroy the lives of the children they are supposed to be preparing for life.

With unemployment at 8.1%, in additon to the additional millions who are not counted because they choose to leave the workplace, the arrogance of the union, and its contempt for the interests of the children they are supposed to be educating is just another example of contempt public unions have for the general interests of citizens and the communities they serve. Unions bleed the public sector dry and bankrupt companies. They are corrupt and outlived their usefulness.

A bit selfish, I think. Whats gonna happen is they are gonna fire everybody, and have everybody reapply for a job. They did something like this in L.A.
