I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find out if I can have chickens or not on my property? I really want chickens...lol

If you're in the city limits, check with city hall. I know people who live on the outskirts of town who do, but can't think of anyone "in town" that I know of. Maybe give them a call.

Ok, thanks!

29 Palms Code

Scan down to "Title 8" and open it. It says in pets "(e) A "pet," herein defined shall mean any animal that
is kept and cared for, which is for companionship, protec-
tion, or adornment of a home. Pets shall include, but not be
limited to; dogs, cats, ornamental or song birds, fish, or
small animals kept in a cage such as hamsters, white mice,
reptiles, etc. Pets shall not include poultry or animals,
kept for profit or sale, or animals not permitted by the laws
of the State of California or the County of San Bernardino."

I would take that as a no but you might be able to get a permit for them?

Thanks. As I read further down it answered directly about chickens. Now I just have to find out what zone I am in.

I would be surprised if you can have them where you live being that it is a neighborhood. I know someone that had them over where I live and the Animal Control said they had to get rid of them because it wasn't allowed. I'm pretty sure it was the rooster that gave her up.

We had chickens in our yard. They sell them a the feed store in JT.

I know lots of people that have chickens and even pigs in the city limits. I think that if the animal control gets wind of it you have to pay a exotic animal fee. Something like that I believe.

I didn't get to keep mine. I had them 9 months. If you can keep them, don't bother getting them at a feed store unless you want to end up with a bunch of roosters. Order chicks online, specify hens only. Can't go wrong.
