which is odd but just pass the boring hours and try to stay out of trouble is all one can do.. To me the celebrating today is all empty means nothing.

imperfectly perfect --- 11 years ago -

Joe, you seem sad today. Everything ok?

joe --- 11 years ago -

well I put my foot in my mouth on the bus yesterday /when you talk to people even there you get negative stuff back and the bus driver put down the rule that all is positive and the riders agreed and I looked like an idiot.Wanted to go to a church in Yucca Valley and can't and not liking to walk up hill on Adobe to the one as you go towards the Base [people will not give rides there ] and they all only are acknowledging 2012 which I'll wait til the month goes into it more to see if it's ok to celebrate it. At best I am not positive but on neutral til later on.

Tabasco --- 11 years ago -

cheer up! Nothing should make you not want to go to church :(

That doesn't seem like a very Christian attitude on their part.

I'm with you on waiting to see how things go before celebrating. Cheer up Joe!

if they had a new thing where you make monthly payments to a church person 'or' to get a ride [your choice of church ] or just that one you like and then your rides are catered to you to take you there and that would not be asking much . People don't give you the ride if you are new to them seem [so you work out a deal and that can be fantastic with Joshua Springs]. Only reason I rode there a guy knows me of recent /he cancelled today as his wife went. The 'deal' I haven't proposed as yet. Some want you to do some task to get a ride; but want a one year pledge [I do not do religious commitments so and no offense too]..church in Wonder Valley once had that .I would not mind so much if I had that year long full energy to.I got tired of walking up hill on one. Then you do that at 96 degrees in summer.

If my car was bigger Joe I'd take you with us to our church. I can ask around for you if your interested in Little Church of the Desert.

Not giving someone a ride seems not very of a Christian attitude to you? hmmm...I will have to make a note of that.

Maybe they don't have a church van where they can offer rides to shut-ins.

I think that [not sure why] many think people are going to want to walk in 91-100 degrees at all times for a mile. But that gets old really quick..I'm not a 'sandrat' just yet.In the military that works becuz you are at least with a unit of people who like you or a social group but alone is another.

joe --- 11 years ago -

I'd make payments to the Yucca Valley church if I had to but they may not understand the need . Some churches people own many cars and feel all have a car because they live in a place where they get good paychecks/ Other idea I have is the one [church] getting the payments has rules that the driver is safe with making him feel safe SO it motivates their willingness to help.BUT I also will stop going to church just to only fully read my bible too but I know that does not go over well.Just a crazy thought {I only go to be close to that Guy^]. The other uncommon thought is in Heaven I won't have to worry about it any.If I knew money was hard to use I'd save it since I was a kid too. :)

Me too joe; me too.

make payments to the Yucca Valley church

I've never heard of churches doing that but it makes sense to me if they do; our church doesn't do that. But then again I don't believe it goes out for Sunday morning pick-ups either. It costs A LOT of resources for a church to keep a vehicle running. A church is run by what comes in through tithing. Like everyone else these days - people are short on $$ - which makes tithing go down which affects how the church can expend it's monies.

If the church I attended in far past would just tell me this lack I would of been able to donate like 150.00 and I would and at least I'd be respected for doing that..See many churches will pressure stuff forward but won't ask if anyone is willing to give something [in 29palms most do not ask members visibly].Some will ask only one thing one way but won't try to ask freely.. they 'lose' the money chance. There are many willing to donate because it makes them feel good to give it.

KEL I mean i'd pay car drivers for a ride because many think giving free ride is 'free loading' as society thinks it is [raised or taught that]. But I can only pay maybe 7.00 for to say meet them somewhere in town[ mostly because I like calvary chapel churches totally].I would make payments to the families for the 15 to 20 mile ride so it is fair enough and they get that little bonus there.

kElJoY --- 11 years ago -

Maybe you need to find you a nice driver. Someone to take you around. Actually hire someone to help you out. There are several teenagers in town with a drivers license and no job. I'm not suggesting mine - because he doesn't have his license. But I know there are some around. I've had a couple come into the store I work at asking if we need help. :)

It doesn't seem to have a Christian attitude in that he is an older man without a car that wishes to worship. If we could provide the ride, we would but I work Sundays.

I'm just saying that SOMEONE from that church could extend some kindness and give him a ride. 29 is a tiny town with a lot of nasty attitudes. I used to give people rides to church almost every week in TN and never asked for gas money, tasks or a commitment.

Dexter true I suppose and some if nasty ,maybe were taken advantage of .People 'using, conning other people gets them turned off or away but I know better then to do that as I been used as well. I learned from seeing the cons going on how to treat people better.

joe --- 11 years ago -

[Dexter what I wish to pursue is pray more and my prayers do radical things when they occur /but not to brag, no-no . Did seek to pray for people of 29Palms many times as is positive for a need. That is my one desire praying to change things .I know the UG is not a christian site just felt like sharing that.

Maybe you should spend some time with me - I know LOTS and LOTS of kind people in this town that extend kindness every day and would never even think about asking someone for money in return.

kElJoY --- 11 years ago -

BTW joe - I checked. My church DOES offer free rides - you just have to call the office. It advertises that in the paper also for the once a month Saturday Night Church event.
