My poor guy got braces today and he seems to be in a lot of pain. He is usually pretty tolerant to pain, but this seems to be kicking his rear. I am helping him with learning how to brush and of course with the flossing because his teeth are so crowded. Poor guy curled up after half his mouth and cried for me not to do anymore :( Breaking my heart!!!

What can I do to reduce the pain besides motrin? And how long will the pain really last?? 

Aww poor kiddo! I was gonna say Motrin but you already got that. Maybe a warm compress? 

I remember that pain like yesterday. Sleep and motrin was all I could do due to age. Pain will subside over the next few days. Imagine a sinus pressure coming from your teeth...that's all I can relate it as. 

Motrin, compresses and sleep. It will pass in a couple days but the discomfort will come again with each visit. I think that pain is something you never forget. Poor guy :( 

Poor thing....my son who is 11yrs old got braces put on last yr, and I know how you feel. He was in so much pain, but all you can do is comfort him, and I gave my guy tylenol which seemed to ease the pain. He no longer complains about the pain, so it does get better. Their teeth move so quickly, and just think he will have a beautiful smile when all is said and done :) Good luck

He had to have it done for more than a beautiful smile. There is so much crowding that some of his teeth cannot come down and they are instead coming up through the upper part of the gums. But yes, a beautiful smile will be an added perk.

But that pain is terrible. It will ease up. I had braces for 5 years lol. Def. just keep up the tylenol/motrin, maybe throw in some ice cream lol
