I have heard good and bad about the base tax services and h and r block I was wondering who has used what--or something else? We have used turbo tax before but this year we need a professional to help us so I'm looking for the best in person business. Also, does anyone know how much h and r costs?

I've always used 29 Palms Tax Service. 760-367-5452, they are across from 7-11 in town. It's owned by an older married couple, they are Great. Low fee's also.

Base is free - so whatever you choose, have them do it anyways as an error check.

I used H&R block online but then brought them to the base and they found a tax credit I didn't know we were eligible for. 

When my SSSHH was active duty - we always did Base - Free and accurate and appreciated greatly. Since retiring, we have used Liberty Tax (not my personal recommendation) and H&R Block. I used H&R Block for YEARS before I met my SSSHH and I've always been pleased. That is now my go to place for taxes. :) 

We go to Mindy Ash at H&R Block. Our return is already processed. She did a lot of work for us last year which was complicated with buying a new house and the hubs being at viper for the tail end of paperwork we both needed to be there for. Fortunately she handled everything including a POA just for the taxes. She was so kind she even sent us a Christmas card this year and remembered I had a baby in between tax seasons. If that isnt personal service I dont know what is! 

The H&R block in 29 is the worst I have ever been to. Ever! I would not recommend i and even had employees tell me (after the fact) how bad it is. I now do ours online then go to base for them to look at and file.
