I know this has been talked about before, but I just typed it in in the search bar and can't find the threads. What kind of paint are we supposed to use when we paint in base housing? 

Hmm I painted 1/2 of our house & didnt use any special type. We were told all we have to do is paint 2 coats of primer over it before we move out. 

well i know paint with gloss is good cuz u can wipe ur walls off when they get dirty..not like reg paint, when it drys it will feel like chalk, u dont want that.. 

I used satin gloss in the living room & semi gloss in the kitchen,bathroom is in flat and everything is beautiful .I used kiltz brand more expensive but its a better paint. 

Hmm.. I thought when we moved in he told us we couldn't use a certain type of paint. I'll have to call tomorrow..

The only thing I found in my lease was about lead based paint. Maybe that's what I was thinking of. So I should go with semi-gloss? lol 

i would, but if u go to home depot they can explain to u what to use for different areas in ur home..my friend did her kitchen yellow and her living room red..

when i called housing they told us we can paint just no oil based paints and it has to be primered the exact color the house was before! or we have to pay for it if its not the same color. i think its stupid because they paint all the houses anyways after someone moves out

I used to mix paint and I think the semi-gloss is the best to use for bathrooms and kitchens, for your livingroom if you dont want alot of gloss on your walls you can use a egg shell. 

Our bathroom is a bright blue & I used a flat because I didnt want it to be all glossy.The color is crazy enough & I painted the ceiling too.lol 

People use alot of flat for walls that have imperfections if you use a high gloss paint and their are alot of imperfection in your wall they stand out more. 

Another question... Unrelated, but we've lived in this place for... just about 3 months. And our carpet is already getting filthy. I'm going to have them shampooed next week, but what are some effective ways to keep it looking clean for longer? I'm already putting a no shoes in the house rule into play. Any other suggestions? 

already putting a no shoes in the house rule into play hmm Im not sure but I use a foam carpet cleaner for the spots that we get sometimes from our dog,he gets a drink and drips in the walkway and when it dries it stains. It works great we also have the rule of no shoes past the front door tile and our carpet looks wonderful & we've been in our home 1 1/2 years
